Overview

Completed in 2020, Çorum City Stadium is a 15,000-seat football venue located along the Samsun–Ankara highway at the southern entrance to the city. Conceived as the new home of Çorum FK, the project forms part of an established sports district and introduces a contemporary public landmark to one of Çorum’s fastest-developing urban areas.

Challenge

The project required a compact and economically organised stadium capable of accommodating professional football, hospitality functions and large spectator flows. Its position at the edge of the city called for a recognisable architectural identity, while the programme needed to balance general admission seating with premium facilities, operational areas and extensive vehicle access.

Solution

BKA organised the stadium around a continuous single-tier seating bowl that keeps spectators close to the pitch and creates a unified match atmosphere. The western main stand rises above the remaining bowl to accommodate two additional floors of hospitality, administration and supporting facilities. Amplified corner volumes on the eastern side balance this asymmetrical composition. A predominantly metal-clad exterior uses red and black—the colours associated with Çorum’s football identity—as its primary visual reference. The compact envelope brings the stands, roof and supporting spaces together as a clear contemporary form.

Result

Çorum City Stadium established a new sporting landmark for the city and provided Çorum FK with a modern 15,000-seat home. Its compact bowl, strong red-and-black identity and clearly expressed main stand create a direct architectural response to the scale and character of the local football community. In 2021, it placed fifth in the public vote for Stadium of the Year 2020.
